General Description

Don’t miss this opportunity to check out this property. Properties like this are not offered for sale very often. The property boasts 77 acres of diverse natural landscape, including oak savannah, river bottom woodland, and rolling prairie. Its prime selling point is the presence of the Little Sioux River, which runs through the property, and its proximity to the city limits. Despite its secluded and wild ambiance, the property is conveniently located within blocks of essential amenities such as hospitals, schools, grocery stores, golf course and the airport. Additionally, it has access to city services like sewer, water, and electricity. The property offers a "wild" feel that's becoming increasingly rare in modern times. It's teeming with wildlife, including deer, pheasants, turkey, ducks, geese, and various woodland creatures, including the family of beavers residing in the large beaver pond. The presence of resident owls and the sounds of nature at sundown add to its tranquility. For nature enthusiasts, there's an abundance of recreational activities available. Hunting for trophy whitetails in the fall, fishing for walleyes in the river, horseback riding, observing nature, hiking, are among the many options for enjoying the property's natural offerings. An exceptional feature is that the Little Sioux River is a non-meandering stream, which grants the property owner rights to the banks and bottom of the river. This provides additional opportunities and control typically uncommon in waterfront properties. The property has been well maintained and managed for years to offer its owners an atmosphere of peace and quiet, making it an ideal place to build a dream home and relish the same quality of life enjoyed by its current owner.

O'Farrell Sisters

O'Farrell Sisters in Okoboji

The O'Farrell Sister is a historic Okoboji Tradition that one must check out for breakfast and lunch!

'Farrell Sisters History
The O'Farrell Sisters restaurant was born in 1949 at the bridge on Hwy 71, between East and West Lake Okoboji. Edna Mae and Arlene O'Farrell bought the business from Ike Kissinger who was running for Sheriff of Dickinson County.

In the early years the girls were open seven days a week and had a booming business in no time. The fried chicken dinners on Sunday evenings were especially popular. There were times when the line waiting to get in was so long they'd have to lock the door and would often run out of chicken!

In 1959 Arlene married and moved to Tallahassee, Florida with her husband Furman Henderson. Edna Mae and Ferne continued in the restaurant, moving to its present location that same year. This spot had a garden and chicken coup, which was moved to the house across the street.

Ferne died in 1974 and Edna Mae in 1978. Arlene sold the business to nieces Joyce Gapinski, Jo Ann Anderson, Charlotte Sarvie and Cheri Petersen (these are married names). The nieces successfully ran the restaurant from 1979 through 2003. After losing Jo Ann in 1997 and Cheri in 2002, Joyce and Charlotte decided to sell after the 2003 season.

The rest is to be continued...
